Scary Monster Movie Four Pack

Frankenstein is an absolute classic, so I figured we'd start there. Harley wanted to go green for Halloween.

Howl-N-Scream,Domestic Cat

I used Kathy Goldstein's What a Scream kit on this. Frank-N-Stein is © 2008 by Tiffany Kennedy at Scrappiles of Digi Style. The ribbon and ALL of the alphas in this four pack come from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

Next up we have Dr. Eric and Mr. Flynn, although I'm not sure where one starts and the other ends. The scraps were from Scrap Happiness Collab Freebie, except that the chalice - I couldn't find a potion bottle - is from Chaos Priestess' Magikal Workers kit and the Iron Skull button is from Creation by Jo's Dark Gothic kit. (Note: i just realized there IS a potion bottle in the Magikal Workers kit, but I'm too lazy to go back and change it. Maybe I'll do that later.)

tabby cat,Howl-N-Scream

If you don't think birds can be scary to cats, guess again. Miss Diamond often gets dive bombed, usually after she's raided a nest, and is force to seek shelter under a vehicle. Even the Veranda is not safe, they've been known to do fly throughs.

Domestic Cat,Howl-N-Scream

The background and the frame came from the Scrap Happiness Collab Freebie, one of the birds came from Scrappy Lover's Witchy Pooh kit, and the other bird came from something entitle MME_Puffy Felt Halloween Pack. A freebie from Digi-free, obviously, but...there's no other credit or TOS with it.

And last, but certainly not least...this could have been either the Hunchback of Notre Meep or the Meep from the Black Lagoon. I decided he looked better in green then he did swinging from a bell tower.

Howl-N-Scream,House Panther

Again the Background, frame and vine are the Scrap Happiness October Collab Freebie, the spooky tree is from Creations by Jo's Fright Night kit and the Jack-O-Lantern is © 2008 by Carolyn McComas of Infinite Visions.

I'm still casting for the Headless Horseman and the Hound of the Baskervilles, so if you have any suggestions for a puddin' or a woofie to fill the roll drop me an e-mail.

Hope I didn't frighten you too much!

Cecil the Cougar

Cat

My friend Ed is a "people" person, meaning he has kids where the rest of us "animal" people have pets. He will occasionally try to yank my chain, and one of his comments is "In the end, they're just animals."

I disagree. Animals, all of them, are in fact living, thinking, self aware beings whose intelligence and agenda is just different then ours. Humans are not superior to them, and given the way we tend to ruin our lives, we may be in fact, quite inferior to them.

Cecil the Cougar was the kitty on duty for FelineDirect.com, but sadly has become nothing more than a personae to be dropped just because his human has people in her life that doesn't understand her "hobby" in so much as Cat Blogging can be considered a hobby.

Sorry Cecil, you've just been downgraded from being a "furson" to being just an animal in the world of people persons. We enjoyed your blog and watching you grow up from being a kitten into a young mancat. We are sad to see you go.

Happily, I'm not one to bow down to peer pressure about my "hobbies", I don't care if people call me "fat" or "four-eyes" or any other childish foolishness, and I certainly disappoint Ed because he can never get a rise out of me, despite all the chain yanking he does.

This piece was done using Raspberry Road Designs' Scouts Honor kit which can be purchased in several installments for a buck each in their dollar store. The Camo alpha is from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

(Ah, poor Cecil, you could have become a cat scout!)

I know that there are several nice pet related kits out there, I even have a couple of them, but I am loath to use them in the creation of these layouts because I think there is more to the fursons of the Cat Blogosphere than collars, food dishes and paw prints.

Sassy Cat

black cat

I tend to forget that Sassy is a cat. Most of her rather inventive blog has been dedicated to her exploits and outrageous trips around the world, often in apostrophized form.

But she is a cat, and a House Panther to boot. Going through her blog since she started it, I found exactly five pictures of her in feline form that had not been photo shopped in some way. Maybe we can get her to remedy that situation? We love your trips, but we love to see you in your natural state as well!

You can find Sassy's more recent adventures at Sassy Tales. Her profile says only that she lives in the rural midwestern United States, that she is loving, lazy loyal, headstrong, sensitive, persistent, quiet and spoiled. Beyond that, we know little of Sassy, the real life feline.

This used the Blue Sky mini-kit by Mamrotka. The chip board lettering is from Free Digital Scrapbooking. The Ribbons and additional flowers are from Michelle Boroni's Ocean Lights mini-kit.

Parker Perfectly Pink

I'm not saying I've save the best cat until last, but the blog is called Perfectly Parker.

Nor are we implying in any way the Parker is finking on her fur-sibs by dressing her up in pink. No sir, I can't believe you'd even think that in the first place.

Parker is just pretty in pink. Parker is a five year old domestic shorthair. She was a stray with five(!) kittens that her "Daddy" found in an alley while he was working out of town. It took him several weeks of coaxing with food and a warm box before he was able to make friends with her.

They got the kittens in, got them vaccinated, spayed and neutered and adopted out to good home, but the tabby and white mother had become "Daddy's Girl". She went home with him - 400 miles to their Ohio residence where she was introduced to her sisters and brothers.

She still prefers human company over that of the other felines, and will show Diamond Doggie the "Paw of Death" if he gets into her space too much.

Parker would love to hear from you, so stop by her blog and leave her a comment on her latest post. You can meet the rest of the family while your there.

I used a mini-kit freebie called Girly-Girl along with the Aged Embossed Alpha, both of which were created by Marie Stones and distributed by Free Digital Scrapbooking.

The frame in the kit is from Retrodiva's Be mine freebie, the hearts are from Viannes Creative Designs' Mum Freebie.

This layout was done to an 8 x 10 standard and is suitable for printing, as were the layouts for the other members of her family.

Bully Bully

Some bulldog shots taken at Petfest last November. The pig themed mini-kit is called Curly Tail and comes from Kyra. She's got some fun little mini-kits with some very unusual themes.

I'm just sort of playing with the kits. It's not a serious piece, of course.

The neon alpha is available at Free Digital Scrapbooking.

Sarah in the Garden

Cat

After the April Fools bit, I figured I should be nice and do a more er...serious...piece on Sarah. The problem is, despite being a Geezer, Sarah strikes me as a cat that does not take her self seriously.

So I'm not entirely happy with this. I will consider a re-do later, when I think up something that fits.

I used Raspberry Road Designs' Rose Garden freebie and the Black Epoxy Alpha from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

HRH Yao-Lin

HRH Yao-Lin

Yao-Lin is a work of art, a masterpiece of royal Siamese ancestry and as such, he cannot possibly be improved upon.

I can only showcase his magnificence in the regal backdrop he so richly deserves. A two year old Seal Point, he rules over the Isle of Wright in the United Kingdom.

You may worship His Highness at Yao-Lin's Yawnings.

I used Raspberry Road Designs Always Asia kit on this, an absolutely beautiful freebie that is still available. Several of their other heritage sets, like the India kit, is sadly expired.

The Alpha is the rather useful Black Epoxy from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

Kon

Kon is Sly's brother and best bud. While Sly has white on him, Kon is solid black.

He was originally named Congo, but they felt Kon suited him better, He loves cuddling, kicking around with (and kicking around) Sly, and chips. Kon loves chips!

Kon has is own blog at No Chips for Kon, but you'll find a lot of things about him on Sly Likes Things as well.

The companion page to the one on Sly, this also utilizes DC Designs' Strong Shoes kit from Digital Freebies. The Alpha is from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

Hockey Puck

Hockey Puck is the youngest of the Felines at Petronious the Arbiter. The last post we was from Petey, which was in February of 2008 saw the Puckster all grown up!

With a cool name like Hockey Puck, I had to do something wintery, so I used Raspberry Road Designs Mystic Winter Freebie on this. The lettering and the snow flake overlay are both from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

An April Fool

Cat

I knew that Monday we'd be doing and April Fool's post for Myth Monday, but my problem was who/what was going to be the April Fool. Then it occurred to me that Sarah celebrates her birthday on April Fools Day. So here she is, clowning around a bit and making a purr-fect April Fool of herself.

This uses Raspberry Road Designs' Free Clovis the Clown Mega-Kit. The Alpha is Little Monster, from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

I also made a matching card to send to her:

Happy Birthday Sarah-Dippy!

When Sarah is not clowning around, this reformed criminal and cheese wiz thief is out tracking down bad guys as a Bounty Hunter...

Sarah Reddeer

Sarah lives with her Mommy and her Auntie in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.

And this, of course, was an excuse to play with the MeeGee Designs Aussie Scout set. I used some elements from Raspberry Road Designs' Scouts Honor set. The Bone Alpha is from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

Diamond however, has some interesting ideas on what Johnny Rotty is up to.

Nicky Nightime

black cat,spring

Nicky is one of the cats I've been trying to track down. His link on House Panthers says Kelly, but it leads nowhere. That would make sense, as they blog off blogger.

Nicky turned 7-years-old last October. He was adopted as a kitten and has lived with his family since. Upon moving in, he immediately tried to take over the household, but Kelly still refuses to bow down to him.

He is very protective of his family who writes that "People may associate with dogs the words 'loyal,' 'faithful,' and 'brave,' but these qualities also apply to our little black cat. He also plays fetch, he growls when the doorbell rings, and sometimes he even howls in the middle of the night for no apparent reason."

My mom says that cats are much more loyal, brave and faithful than dogs, but that they always get mislabeled as sneaky, cruel and aloof by people who do not understand them. Perhaps they need to hire better public relations people?

Sometimes called “El Gatito Perfecto”, this good cat blogs at It's all Good. He also does Midnight Monday on a regular basis, even if he never posts links for us.

As he's being featured on Easter Sunday, I at least wanted to go with a spring theme for him, so this is using Digital Freebies' Spring Fling kit (Melanie Ann Designs). The gel alphabets are a freebie from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

This was done to an 8 x 10 portrait format. I love the colors on it, but then, I'm partial to purple, black and blue.

A Matter of Faith

Cat,Scrapbook

Faith Boomerang was one of Momma Tortie's babies. Momma Tortie was a feral rescue that they ML took in while she was pregnant and kept until the kittens were born and old enough to give up for adoption.

Once Momma Tortie was surrendered, she went wild again and was considered unadoptable. So she was sent to a cat refuge to live out the rest of her life in piece and quiet. It's a big two story house out in the country on a big fenced piece of land. The cats have the run of the house, and SPECIAL cats, like Momma Tortie, also have outside time to run and hunt and climb.

Next they were notified that that Babie Tortie was biting. So they went and picked her up and brought her back home. Since ML had been counseled to have "have faith" during the whole ordeal, it was obvious that the returning kitten had to be named Faith. And well, Boomerang is also kind of obvious.

Anyway, you can find Faith online at Missy & KC. Be careful, she might purr you do death!

I used Free Digital Scrapbooking's Hope, Faith and Love Papers and Digital Freebies' Spring Fling Embellishments.

Note on October 7, 2008: Hippo Purthday to Faith Boomerang, who turn one year old today!

Mosaic Annie

black cat,Scrapbook
Click on the image to enlarge it.

This was an attempt to rehabilitate Annie's Demon Kitty image by giving her a nice pretty layout. This used the Redju Simplemente kit on this piece. The alphabets were from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

Annie will turn two in August of 2008. She moved in with the Mosaic's as a foster a year later and became a permanent fixture, much the chagrin of the geriatric residents on September 19, 2007.

You can find Annie on theMosaic Cats blog, where she is currently fighting a War on Tomerism.

Mosaic Annie demon cat

Annie was featured on House Panthers on February 22, 2008, in which I used a photo of her modified with Photoshop's Mezzotint filter.

Cat,photoshop

I was trying Mo's tip of editing at a higher res and then scaling the photo down after, but I still wasn't all that happy with the results.
