Hard Rock with Helly

This is from Helly's Hard Rock Mama kit which I got because (1) it was Rock and Roll themed and (2) because I really liked the stars in it. There's a bit of word art in it that says something like 30 years and still rockin' by which I take to understand that Helly is still a pup.

When I seem to be lacking in inspiration, I go back to rock and roll. This is not the use of the kit that Helly ever envisioned, I'm sure, however, I started out with Mike because, well...Mike is Mike.

Mike Gonzales

So then I used it...conservatively for my new little buddy Javier:

GCL Twins

Then yesterday, having more or less used all the standard stuff for Whit and Sing, I did these two...

Fort Myers Miracle

Fort Myers Miracle

And one for Foxy, just because I could, although I have a lot of catching up to do where Matty is concerned.

Fort Myers Miracle

And finally, I was felling kind of artsy, and came up for this one for Sing which...I REALLY like...

Fort Myers Miracle

Yes, I realize I probably really like it because it's mostly black and white. I wonder if I should have gray scaled the photo and if it's too late to go back and do that?

Floral Forest Fantasy

The latest kit from Tizzy Made Me Do this is Floral Forest Fantasy which you can get at Digital Chaos.

Diamond is of course, very fond of flowers. She loves to munch on any I bring into the house. In his first piece, she is will some of her Autumn Forest Friends which were done by Danielle Engebretson and which can be found at Digital Freebies.

Diamond's Forest Fantasy

Since I was afraid she might eat her friends, being the mighty huntress she is, I made her stay in a frame for that one.

In this one, she's out of the frame and having fun playing hide and seek in the forest.

Diamond's Floral Fantasy

My Grams very much like flowers too, so I sent her off into to woods to enjoy them as well.

Grams in the Forest Garden

There is a Freebie Add On for it. This last pieces was done using just the add on:

Floral Forest Fantasy (Add on)

Much fun! Well, I suppose I must go and do laundry now. I've procrastinated enough for one day.

Dog Day Afternoon

Dog Day Afternoon is an interesing kit from Danielle Engebretson. I liked the dragonflies, although suddenly, it seems like everyone is doing dragonflies. I do like the watercolored look backgrounds, but it wasn't doing what I wanted to do with it as far as scrapping was concerned.

Fort Myers Miracle

Dog Daze I came out okay, except that Gene didn't like me using his picture. I thought it looked sweet through.

The Reptar pieces I was not so happy with, although I suppose it's okay...

Fort Myers Miracle

However, when I came time to scrap the Tie-dyed Missy shots, I knew exactly where I was going with it:

Fort Myers Miracle

She is definatly stylin', is she not?

I also did the one shot of Mija...just kind of for fun. I had not really expected to get him to sign it.

As it turns out, the opportunity presented himself and the funny thing was, he REALLY like it!

GCL Twins

But it was odd watching Mija pitch again in GCL after all these years. He's just not "little Mija" anymore.

The lettering on the Missy piece was the Pink-A-Dot Alpha from Free Digital Scrapbooking The alpha on the Mija piece is from the Beachin' Collection Biggie kit from Scrap Girls

A Pirates' boy for me (Part 2)

GCL Pirates
Tyler Cox - 35th round

GCL Pirates
Jesus Aguilara - Non-drafted Free Agent

GCL Pirates
Ben Gonzalez - 7th Round

GCL Pirates
Jarek Cunningham - 18th Round

GCL Pirates
Andury Acevedo - Non drafted free agent

GCL Pirates
Craig Parry - 50th Round

GCL Pirates
Frazier Pedron - Non drafted free agent

GCL Pirates
Alex Vargas - Non drafted free agent

GCL Pirates
Gabrial Alvarado - Non drafted free agent

The layout elements are from Marie LaFrance's ArrrMatey kit, which comes with its own alpha. On the whole, I prefer the black lettering I used on the previous kit, as it looks like some one took pen to parchment to create it.

I haven't decided if I'm going to autograph the Pirates or not. However, if I decide to, I've now got the pictures to do it with. I also think I could do more with the layouts if take the Pittsburgh logo off, but for the purposes of this exercise, I'll leave them on. (Maybe in Pirate Boys Part 3?)

As with the previous entry, with the except of the Vargas, Parry & Pedron photos, which were taken on 29 June, 2008, and the Alvardo photo, taken 19 June, 2008, these were all snapped at Saturday Morning's game (19 July 2008), which the GCL Twins won, 2-1.

Owen vs. the Dinosaurs

Angela Sharrow has this great Quick Page Freebie made from her Jurassic Art kit. Here we see how Owen stacks up against a Brontosaurus.

friends and fans

I think he's got a little bit more growing to do!

Don't forget to leave her some love if you down load her freebie!

Midnight in the Garden

Designs by Helly had a freebie sampler up on Digi-free for her Hard Rock Mama kit. You know me, I'm into anything Rock and Roll, and this is actually a pretty cool little kit. But I was wondering what the full kit looked like so I followed the link over Scrapping Whispers where I also found a very nice little kit called Midnight in the Garden.

I particually liked the little fairies, but here's the rub. It's mostly black on black so you can't see a lot of things once you try to put them together.

Unhappy with my initial results, I started putting together a hybrid piece using the Gothic Envy kit and the Dark Elegance kit, which was a freebie.

Diamond

Halfway through this piece is when it occurred to me to add a glow to the elements. Photo suite doesn't do glow every well, BTW, but...

Diamond

So then I went back and reworked the Diamond in the Moonlight Garden piece, with much better resuls. I'll get the hang of this sooner or later.

Anyway, Helly's got some nice kits although I'm not sure what I'd do with some of them. Maybe something will occur to me eventually, but the Hard Rock Mama and the Midnight in the Garden kit I've found quite amusing.

I would love to play with this some more tonight, but we once again have a 10:00 AM game (bleck!) so I believe I'll head off to bed now.

Jurassic Park

A new release this last Tuesday, July 8th, Jurassic Art just tickled me pink. I love Dinos! However, is it worth buying something if I'm not going to use it?

How about....

Jurassic Park

When Dinosaurs played at the Lee County Sportsplex?

In any case, I did this one for Mike and was immediately struck by how well this would have worked with Danny "Bam-Bam" Rams last year. Ah well...

Maybe when he makes it to the Miracle.

Mike Gonzales

I was trying to stay away from actually putting Dino's on the layouts, but...

Tyler Ladendorf

I figured the little glitter ones weren't too obvious...right?

Reggie Williams

Jae-Hyueng Jang

Maybe I could pass them off as dragons?

Herbert Lara

I'm sure I can find lots of amusing things to do with this once baseball season is over and I can move on to other projects.

By the way, if you hop over to Digital Freebies between now and Thursday, July 17, you can download the Jurassic Art Sampler absolutely free!

Knights of the GCL

Liam, I think, has been refering to Reggie as "Sir Reginald". I found this amusing and sort of expanded on it, so we now have the Knights of the GCL series.

Not that any of these kids have "killed" anything substantial. Just some orioles and a couple of pirates.

Reggie Williams

Danny Rohlfing

Aaron Hicks

Tyler Ladendorf

I keep wanting to do one for Mike, and make it "Sir" Michael Dragonsbane, but he won't actual tangle with any Dragons until he gets into the Midwest League and visits Dayton. Although, since they are a Reds affiliate and they have faced the GCL Reds, I suppose one could argue they've faced dragonettes.

Somehow, "Sir" Michael Birdiesbane just does not have the same ring.

These were all done using the Dragon's Lair kit from Digital Freebies.

Digital Chaos

A couple of new kits out at Digital Chaos have caught my eye. A Moonlit Night by Tizzy's Angel is one. I got the associated freebie, but I need to buy the kit. This piece uses her Gothic Envy kit.

Night is a magical of time of day anyway, and here Diamond has found a magical portal to step through and into a Gothic Garden of delights. The little green dragon is from Kristin's Wicked Scrapz and was a freebie.

Diamond

The other is the the A Pirate's Life kit from Yarrow. This is the "Elizabeth Swan" type of pirate, very feminine. And of course, Miss Diamond is every bit the lady pirate. This is a freebie associated with this one as well, and this design was done from the Freebie Add On.

Cute Cat

I thought I'd get Diamond dressed up for 4th of July, so I should have some new pictures coming soon. I've just been busy scraping the baseball boys, which works in well with my photographing and autographing hobbies.

And yes, I've been having a bit of fun with the boys of late, something which doesn't seem to bother Cole in the least:

Fort Myers Miracle

The background is from the aformentioned Gothic Envy kit, the knight emblem and the dragon wrapped around the staff is from A Dragon's Lair kit at Digital Freebies, the Chrome Dragons charms were a Digital Freebies find, which I don't have the information for just at the moment, and the Metal Alphia is of course from NettieB Scrapz.
