Hockey in July

I'm bored and I hate being that way.

An update on the computer: It shipped from Weesy-Anna yesterday and went to Indiana. Now it's in Louisville. I'm not sure how shipping things all over the country saves Fedex money but...they seem to think it does. It's due to be delivered sometime tomorrow before 4:30 PM. Hopefully it will work this time.

In the meantime, since I had to cough up adverts, I put Photosuite 4.0 on the Archaic Beastie and had to remember how to use it. It's been a while. It's a fairly easy program though and you can do some fun things with it. I also listed a couple of formerly exclusive kits in Aussie Scrap Design where we are doing a Christmas in July promotion. All my winter themed kits and my New Years kits are 50% off.  Plus I've tossed a few dollar specials in there for you as well!

One of the kits was A Taggers Christmas and the other was Five Golden Rings.

I used Photosuite and Five Golden Rings and some old shots of my friend Rob Laurie with Team Mission to piece together a layout:

Rob & Team Mission

You can grab these kits by clicking on the preview below:

If you spend $5 or more at Aussie Scrap Designs, you can get the Christmas in July collab free. I didn't get to take part in it, as what I had done is stuck on the hard drive from the crashed computer, and of course, I had nothing else to work with. Still, it's an awesome collab, so be sure to check it out!

Yesterday was the Cape Coral Boat Along. As far as boat parade goes, this one is pretty mild although according to reports it still drew over 5,000 to Freedom Park. I had mentioned to one of my friends that it just makes me miss Winterfest in Fort Lauderdale. Now THAT was a boat parade!

And I suspect the crowd it drew as more like 50,000. You couldn't get near the intercoastal on parade day and reserved seating at intercoastal restaurants was made months in advance.

I was lucky enough to get a waterfront table at a nice restaurant one year, where we could enjoy a good meal, and sit back and sip champagne while the boats then by.

Scrapping All the Way put out a fabulous new page kit called Jingle Bell Boogie. I really like the colors in this one, so I asked if could work with it.

Winterfest Layout 1

In Aus, Santa's sleigh is pulled by Six White Boomers, as opposed to the 8 tiny reindeer we normally see. In Florida, it's six illuminated dolphin doing sleigh duty! I sure do hope that sleigh can float!

Winterfest Layout 2

Part of the charm of Winterfest is the backdrop of the hi-rise towers which are also illuminated for the parade. YOu don't have building that sore 40 or so floors into the air in the Cape.

I've got one more shot I want to scrap with this kit, then I'm going to script it down and do a tag with it. Really fun stuff inside, as you can tell from these two layouts. :) Jingle Bell Boogie can be purchased at Scrapper's Secret, where the designers are REAL angels.

Wild, Wild Life and a Little Ghostie

Ishona over at Scrappetizing was looking for a zoo kit to scrap some pictures with. I didn't have a zoo kit, but I have a couple of safari ones, so I sent over the link to Jungle Love, even though it's a taggers kit.

This is what she came up with and I'm sure you'll agree, they're adorable.

Jungle Love

Jungle Love

Evidently the stickers were a big hit and she said had it been left up to her 10-year old son, she would have a lot more stickers on these layouts. LOL!

Jungle Love

Pretty kitty! I still need to go put these up in the various galleries.

Thanks so much to Ishona for using my kit and for coming up with such nice results as well.

Jungle Love is a taggers kit but it's 300 DPI making it suitable for blog wear, plus smaller print jobs such as brag books. I use my kits to print 5 x 7 inch cards for my family for holidays and birthdays and they work great for that.

Next up, Jessica at Gothic Inspirations did a fab little tute using my Crazy Little Thing Called Blood taggers kit. I LOVE the ghost, BTW. He comes with the kit. LOL!

You can find that tutorial HERE. Thanks again to Jessica for using my kits and for doing such a fine job on them!

Fox & Hound layouts and tags!

Mary, from the Sophisti-Scraps CT team has done some great work with my new Fox & Hound taggers kit. Check out this fabulous tag:

Fox-N-Hound Tag

She's got a tutorial up for it as well, on her blog at scrappyluv.blogspot.com.

Plus a pair of quick pages and you can also pick these up for free over at scrappyluv.blogspot.com:

Need I say I LOVE the white kitty? He/she reminds me my old cat Puffy, who used to own me when I was a little girl.

This is grade A prime beef, straight to you from cow country - okay, well almost. We're just a bit down the road from cow country. LOL!

More Awesome Layouts!

I'm still having a lot of problems with the computer at home and trying to surf the internet. I'm okay as long as I don't go near blogger, but the minute I try to look at a blog, Netscape crashes. I guess I need to totally uninstall it, delete all the files and start again and see if that helps. Sheesh.

Anyway, some layouts that were done using my kits. The first two are from Lillian who's done a really great job. She's using more cub scout pictures, LOL!

Enchanted Cub Scout

This one uses my Enchanted Forest kit. I had a blast making it, and I hope she enjoyed working with it as much. There's an Enchanted Forest II in the works, but it's going a bit more darker and dangerous than the first! (Here by Dragons!)

Going on a Cub Scout Hunt

The second uses my Lion Hunt kit and is just too adorable! She's got her Cub all caged! LOL! Both these layouts were done for the Winni Lesson' Groups and again, if you interested, you can find the links to them here.

The next two layouts come from Ishona from the Scrappetizing store CT. She had The Big Kahuna kit and decided to have a go at it. Theses layouts turned out fabulous!

Under the Sea

It's been a while since I've been under the waves and I do miss it. It's a very magical world down there. This looks totally refreshing, does it not?

Sailing!

Top side, we've got one nice looking sail boat. I could go for that right about now. How about you?

Awesome job by both of them!

These kits are available right now in all three of my stores! In the meantime, assuming the computer from hell co-operates, I should have Camp Tippy Canoe hitting the stores either tonight or tomorrow!

Be afraid. Be very, very afraid!

News, WWLD, and Layouts!

News! I have been accepted as a designer into Scrappetizing! This puts me in three stores now, which will help get my name - and my products - out there.

I did very well this week on commissions to, getting around $18 total, which surprised me to no end. Of course, I turned around and spent this on more scrap stuff, but what did you expect!

Getting accepted in Scrappetizing also gives me a 3rd store to promote on through the blog trains. As I've been doing three trains a month, that gives me one store per train to promote! Gotta take advantage of my advertising opportunities!

Question: Which brings me to my "What would Luke Do?" question for the week. I am including coupons into the Goodie Train and and Bits'N'Bobs Train good for 35% off on my products at one of my stores. I hadn't actually thought this through until Toni brought it up but...

I can make the coupons good for a one (1) time use per customer or I can make them good for a multiple use per customer. I guess I was thinking like a printed coupon where you use it once and that's it...it just didn't occure to me that I could do multiple uses with it.

So which way do you think I should go? A one time use coupon or a multiple use coupon? The coupons are only good through the month of July.

Layouts: Lillian Campbell, who I know through the Stargazer's Store, is a moderator and lesson writer for Winni's Lesson's Groups. Winni has loads of groups for designing with PSP, Letter Creator (brand new), Animation, etc...

There is a list at the bottom of this post. Lillian had asked for kit donations to use in her lesson writing, so I sent a few on and she's done wonderful things with them. While these are taggers sized kits, she's doing the lessons on the internet. These were all done for the Scrapbook Lesson Group.

This first one uses my Big Kahuna kit:

Big Kahuna Layout

There have been over 500 downloads of this kit, making it the most popular one I've done so far. The last day to get this as a freebie is June 30th, so if you haven't snagged it yet, you might wish to do so A.S.A.P.

The second uses my Bike Night kit and I LOVE what she's done with it!

Bike Night Layout

I think that's a box raft and they're certainly not going to cross the Atlantic in that anytime soon!

Fairy Delightful Layout

The third uses my Fairy Delightful kit. This is another freebie that you have until June 30th to snag, so don't delay. And isn't Coolbeanz just an adorable little doggie?!

These are all just fabulous!

I'm told there is a lesson group for Poser and Photoshop in the works!

I hope you enjoyed those layouts as much as I did. I'm just tickled pink with the whole thing!

Last of the Jurassics

This finishes the Jurassic Art layouts for the 2008 GCL Twins, which does not preclude me from using the kit elsewhere. This was a batters only set, unlike the Under the Sea set which is both pitchers and hitters.

Gulf Coasting

Well, I went through all my back up discs last night, and aside from the new stuff I had just downloaded prior to the the computer blowing up, there are a LOT of kits I'm missing, including some of my favorites, like the BoHo collection and Wild Kingdom.

And while I'm not adverse to re-purchasing one or two kits, the prospect of loosing all that stuff is not really pleasant. So I'm going to have to try something - maybe Saturday - to recover that stuff. After all the hard drive should still be usuable, I just need to find a way to wire it into the new system.

In any case, one thing I did run across was the work file for the Catfish piece I'd done in April. I was sort of pleased by this because I'd used it for a while as my wallpaper at work. This lead to two things. The first is that it needed to be redone, because some of it just wasn't working.

The other was that the kit had possiblities that I'd not seen before.

Diamond,black cat
Catfish - revisited

The kit in question is Maria LaFrance's Under the Sea, which has been retired and is no longer available, although she has an Album set available using the theme. And for some reason the colors got me thinking of the sea and the "Gulf Coast" part of Gulf Coast league and so...I went home and tried it out.

The result is the "Gulf Coasting" layouts which I really like. In fact, I like them enough that I want to do a whole team set using the theme, although I'm sure I'm going to miss a player here or there. I haven't seen Angelo pitch, for example, so I have no pictures of him.

The first set however:

That's been kind of the interesting thing this year with the baseball layouts...None of the baseball themed kits seem to work because they were mainly created for little leaguers. Besides, it would get boring really fast to do the same thing over and over again. So I have to "discover" kits that work.

Jurassic Art is one of them, strangely enough. Under the Sea, which was designed for creating aquarium pictures, is another, giving the underlying theme of baseball on the Gulf Coast.

I've found several really nice ones that work. I wish I could find some more. I really wanted the Wild Kingdom kit to scrap the rest of the L-Tigers pictures with, but lacking that, I guess I'm struck using Afican Beat.

In any case, I was looking at the Album set last night and liked some of the layout ideas in it - like using the buckle as a frame - so I'll have to see about incorporating them into the layouts for the guys I've yet to get too. I might just have to buy that album set for the heck of it.

The layout elements are from Yarrow's A Pirate's Life kit. The lettering is the standard Black Epoxy Alpha available from Free Digital Scrapbooking.

With the except of the Vargas, Parry & Pedron photos, which were taken on 29 June, 2008, and the Alvardo photo, taken 19 June, 2008, these were all snapped at Saturday Morning's game (19 July 2008), which the GCL Twins won, 2-1.
