Floral Forest Fantasy

The latest kit from Tizzy Made Me Do this is Floral Forest Fantasy which you can get at Digital Chaos.

Diamond is of course, very fond of flowers. She loves to munch on any I bring into the house. In his first piece, she is will some of her Autumn Forest Friends which were done by Danielle Engebretson and which can be found at Digital Freebies.

Diamond's Forest Fantasy

Since I was afraid she might eat her friends, being the mighty huntress she is, I made her stay in a frame for that one.

In this one, she's out of the frame and having fun playing hide and seek in the forest.

Diamond's Floral Fantasy

My Grams very much like flowers too, so I sent her off into to woods to enjoy them as well.

There is a Freebie Add On for it. This last pieces was done using just the add on:

Much fun! Well, I suppose I must go and do laundry now. I've procrastinated enough for one day.

I joined the Chaos Angel forums because well, I like the goth look and figure some instruction would be a good thing. I am on the Retrodiva forum as well, but don't interact much - I'm there mostly for the challenges which I am probably light years away from winning because, well...as I've said before, I just don't know all that much.

Anyway the idea of TAGS came up and I'd forgotten about TAGS because most of the baseball forums I frequent don't used them. So...these are not really TAGS, but I guess they'll do until I get a bit more creative or until someone takes pity on me.

The death of Ratty Williams

When I got home from the game, I found Diamond pawing through her wardrobe bag. "You want to get dressed up?" I ask her, when suddenly a little head popped out. It seemed a rat - a pretty big one too - had taken refuge in it.

She'd already gotten it, as it's back had been broken and it's back legs were paralyzed, but it still managed to scoot out of the bag to under my computer desk, where she got her jaws on it and took it into the bathroom, her preferred killing ground.

Please don't eat the Daisies...

...or the butterfly either. However, if you bring me the head of that songbird that's been singing in the tree outside my bedroom window at 2:30 AM when I'm trying to sleep, I'll give you a WHOLE POUCH full of treats.

A Spring Garden is a shared kit between Angela Sharrow and Verena Karolyi. While most of the pieces in Sunday Morning Garden Party were from Sharrow's kit, everything in this piece is from Karolyi's version of the kit. The kit was the Digital Freebies Club kit for April, and as such is likely of limited edition.

Earth Day is April 22nd, and Miss Diamond is a very environmentally friendly sort of kitten. As a result, she is doing Earth Week on her blog. These are the graphics for the first three articles, that will takes us through to Thursday.

All of the layouts were composed with pieces from Scrappin Dead Girl's Earth Day Mega Kit and My Guitar Hero, except for the chip board lettering in the second piece, which is from Free Digital Scrapbooking. Oops, sorry. The lettering on the first piece is from Retrodiva's Bohemian Love Affair kit.

This is a whimsical piece using A Spring Garden, which is the April kit from Digital Freebies. More specifically, it uses the two add ons to the main kit, plus the alpha, which is available seperately. Once you get done you've spent just under $17 for the whole thing but you've one heck of a mega-kit.

In cropping the picture, I inadvertantly giffed some of Pooka out and had to draw him back in, so I'm not totally happy with it, but it wasn't meant to be a serious piece. There's a secondary layout that I did while I was procrastinating going to do laundry, that I've not put on line yet.

I went in this morning (Tuesday, April 22nd) and changed this, taking the zebra from Karen Lewis' Little Safari kit (also from Diginal Freebies) and replacing Pooka with it. It's sort of Pooka's cartoon stand in anyway. I also added some items from the full A Spring Garden kit, like the Gazebo. So I'm happier now. I was going to put Part II on line, until I realized I had "spring" spelled wrong. (Oops!)

A Mother's Love

Diamond with her "kitten".

"Oh," she says. "Why can't we use this for mothers day?"

Maybe we will.

This was done with Retrodiva's Bohemian Poetry kit.

Miss Diamond

Mother's Day is coming up and while I know I have to put out something, I never know exactly what to say. I mean, what do you say to a woman who spent most of the time she was supposed to be raising you, drunk. "Happy Mother's Day. This Bud's for you?"

Obviously, whatever I'll be doing, I'll be doing it with Amy Bleser's Flowers for Mom kit, which I got from Digital Freebies.

Miss Diamond will be part of the wishes I send home, since my mom seems fascinated by the "dress up cat". Here she is helping me with a pre-mother's day doodle.

I'd finally got the Bohemian Collage and Bohemian Love Affair collections I'd been wanting from Retrodiva. This is uses the former. My main problem is that this particular piece is a background and not an overlay. I'm wondering if I could change that....

in any case, it's also sort of a practice piece for Mother's Day, which I need to start thinking about. In a completely unrelated move, earth day is also coming up....

I don't know what the Red Hat Society thing is all about, and neither does Diamond. Nor does she particularly care.

This was just play around piece using the Ladies in Red Mini-kit by Kyra. The lettering comes from the the Mum freebie from Vianne's Creative Designs.

Origins

black cat,Diamond

I found the quote I used on this while I was researching Sunday and Monday's entries for Diamond. I thought it very appropriate as domestic felines so quickly revert to their wild origins when allowed to run feral.

Many people know what dogs were domesticated from wolves, but what about cats? How did they come to live with humans? A study published in the July 2007 issue of the journal "Science" helps answer that question. Using genetic methods, scientists from the National Cancer Institute and the University of Oxford report that the origins of the common household cat can be traced back 100,000 years to ancestors in the Middle East. This much earlier than the earliest archaeological evidence of feline domestication that dates back 9,500 years to Cyprus.

By looking at the DNA of wildcats and domestic cats, the research team found five matriarchal lines from which all modern domestic cats have descended. Their ancestors, the Near Eastern (Asian) Wildcat (Felis Sivestris Ornata), still lives in Israel, Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. It is believed that the domestic cat's ancestors become helpful to early farmers by hunting rodents and that domestication evolved out of the relationship between humans and cats. In turn, cats followed their human companions as they migrated across the globe.

It is still however, believed that domestic cats developed their long standing relations with humans in Egypt, and that the spread of domestic cats across the globe started with domestics smuggled out of Nile Region. (It was illegal to export a cat from Eqypt.)

I used the Wild Kingdom kit from Raspberry Road Designs on this piece.

The Diamonator

It's that time of year again, and Diamond gifted me with a large one this time.

That's a six inch ruler next to the victim in the crime scene shots.

I used the ArrrMatey kit from Digital Freebies, except the lettering came Shabby Princess' Urban Kiwi kit and the tag is from Raspberry Road Designs Java Joe Kit.

Naptime

Diamond,black cat

The optional theme for this weekend's Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos is "naptime", something which I figured couldn't be too hard to put together for any feline.

This uses the Spring Fling kit from Digital Freebies - again with the blue and purple scheme. You'd think I'd be sick of it by now, but...

Aloha

Aloha

This is Diamond's idea of surfing...no water involved.

The Aloha kit is a soon-to-be-retired piece from Digital Freebies (Yes, I spend way to much time shopping there). Strangely enough, for a kit that is supposed to be Hawaii themed, it lacks in flowers, so I so I supplemented it with elements from the Oceans by Butterfly Kit.

Lethal Weapon

When Diamond is not busy being a cute cat, she amuses herself by assassinating small animals - birds, rats, mice, voles and snakes are some of the things that have fallen to her fangs and claws. Here, she takes a out a rat.

And yes, I appreciate her efforts. Rats in my house are NOT cute. I do not wish to put them back outside because they'll only come inside again. They are better off dead.

I used the Arrrmatey kit from Digital Freebies for this as it had a dark and deadly feel to it.

If you've ever been owned by a cat, you'll understand this piece. How something that doesn't weigh more than 15 pounds can make SOOOOOOO much noise when she goes pounding through the house is beyond me.

Panthera Domestica

Panthera Domestica

Panthera Domestica, a.k.a. the common House Panther is found in major cities and rural areas all over the world. Their territories may range from single room apartments to several urban blocks, although few tend to roam far from their lairs.

The House Panther is a naturally occurring melanistic color variant of the tabby variety of the Near Eastern wildcat. Subspecies of the Panthera Domestica include a gray (a.k.a. blue) variant.

Despite the name there is nothing "common" about these majestic creatures, who are close direct descendants of the sacred cats of the Temple of the Egyptian Goddess Bast.

Loving, fiercely loyal and very protective of those things that they hold dear, Panthera Domestica is one of the best friends anyone can have.

Find out more about Panthera Domestica at House Panthers as we celebrate a festival of black fur during Midnight Monday.

This public service announcement was brought to you by Raspberry Road Design's Wild Kingdom.

Meanwhile Diamond gets in some deep sea fishing.

This was made with Karen Lewis' Little Safari kit, and I actually envision another piece that includes some dialog between the little animals in the kit that I haven't put together yet. But if I use Tavi for Woofie Wednesday, I may not actually need it until Friday...

Beach patrol

sunsets,Scrapbook
Click on the image to supersize the cuteness

While I was over at Digital Freebies, I found this adorable kit called Little Safari, so I picked that one up as well. While I have not actual use for it, it will give me some digital friends for Miss Diamond, and it will appeal to the kids who read her page.

Maybe I can work it into the Beach Theme for Diamond's blog and make it surfin' Safari?

The sunset pictures are from Smathers Beach, Key West, Florida, and were taken in 1993. Smathers is a man made beach. The natural beach that was there was destroyed when they built the airport, so they imported white sand from the Bahamas and made a new beach. Much of that orignal sand has probably washed itself back to the Bahamas, so they have to bring in more every year.
